A Feast Fit for a King at Asha’s, Dubai

Some may better know Asha Bhosle for her music but we can’t get over her amazing restaurants that celebrate Indian cuisine. The traditional North Indian cuisine is authentic, with a rather contemporary, modern take. Asha’s first restaurant is housed in the Pyramids of Wafi Mall and has stood the test of time. It is as stylish and just as brilliant today as we remember it from when we first visited a good ten years ago.

Lassi is an acquired taste, which simply put is an Indian milkshake. It can be served salty or sweet and is a cooling yoghurt drink that essentially makes a great accompaniment to a spicy meal.

Asha's Dubai potato starterThe Kumbh Jhinge Lazeez is a rather unusual concept, as mushrooms are not common place on an Indian menu. The button mushrooms stuffed with coriander, garlic marinated prawn mince with a crispy outer shell were surprisingly succulent, and  bursting full of flavour.

Asha's Dubai tandoori chickenThe Lamb Briyani is phenomenal. The depth of flavour, with curry laced into the layers of fragrant rice is just gorgeous. The deep fried boiled eggs may be slightly over engineered, but this is an all round amazing dish.

Asha's Dubai lamb biriyaniThe delicious Prawn Travancore curry has hints of coconut and tamarind that give it an almost South Indian taste. Served with a buttery Naan with garlic and cheese, this is true overindulgence.
